Dear Friends,
This year we gather to celebrate Roxie Hart’s journey to a forever home. Roxie was with us for 892 days and while this is an extraordinary length of time by all measures, we can say her forever home was well worth the wait.
Roxie arrived at SAVE as a stray and had been injured in a fight with another dog—an unfortunate situation that wasn’t her fault, and one that left her with serious physical and emotional wounds. Our SAVE team cared for her, healed her, and got to know the affectionate, silly, and spirited girl behind the scars. The girl who loves her stuffed toys, gives the best snuggles, and lives for mermaid time in the kiddie pool.
But none of us could have imagined that Roxie would wait so long for her forever home.
That wait ended thanks to a volunteer, Kathy, who got her featured on ‘Paws and Pals’ with NJ News12. The Erickson family saw her story on our social media and stopped by to meet her. Roxie won them over! They fostered her and then made it official—calling her ‘perfect’.
Roxie’s story is SAVE’s story. We never give up on the animals in our care, no matter how long it takes. And we could not do this work without you—our community of supporters who believe in second chances and help make moments like this possible.
We look forward to seeing you at the Furry Friends Fall Fête, where we can connect, celebrate, and continue supporting homeless animals, like Roxie Hart, who have found hope and care at SAVE.
